The Makgadikgadi Wetlands
Working Group (MWWG) has been set up to promote the sustainable
development and long-term conservation of the Makgadikgadi
palustrine wetlands and its associated biodiversity.
Through training and initiating stakeholder participation in various monitoring and conservation activities, and providing valuable information exchange, the working group will help develop responsibility and conservation awareness among stakeholder groups, while ensuring the continuity of these activities in the long-term. The group will also promote the wise use of the wetlands natural resources to improve local livelihoods and thereby adopt a commitment to the conservation of biodiversity as the basis for human benefit and well being. Promoting the value of Makgadikgadi as a sustainable natural resource, while protecting its integrity and biodiversity through effective management and policy implementation, is the ultimate goal.
